Chance The Rapper explains how reading James Cone's *God of the Oppressed* and *The Cross and the Lynching Tree* shaped his understanding of Christianity, liberation and systemic oppression. Lecrae raises an important question about personal sin, holiness and morality — and that's where this conversation gets VERY interesting.

Chance and Lecrae discuss Black Liberation Theology, James Cone, white supremacy, oppression, sin and the Kingdom of God — but does this theology actually line up with Scripture?

In this video, I break down the Chance the Rapper and Lecrae interview and explain why Black Liberation Theology can shift Christianity's focus from mankind's fundamental problem — sin — toward political systems, racial oppression and social liberation.

Yes, Christians should oppose genuine injustice and love our neighbors.

But is changing systems the Gospel?

And did Jesus come primarily to liberate mankind from oppressive political structures — or from sin and death?

Let's examine it biblically.

Chance the Rapper Says White Supremacy Is at the Root of Sin!?

Is social justice part of the Gospel or have we confused Christian obedience with the Gospel itself?

Tonight, we’re examining the growing connection between race, social justice, and Christianity.

Tonight, we’re examining the growing connection between race, social justice, and Christianity. From @ChanceTheRapper’s discussion of James Cone and Black Liberation Theology, to ⁨@LecraeOfficial⁩ asking a bigger question: **What does the Bible actually require of Christians when it comes to justice, the poor, oppression, and our neighbor?**

Christians are commanded to do justice, love mercy, care for those in need, and love our neighbors—but does that make social justice the Gospel? And when did political and social solutions become a test of whether someone is practicing Christianity correctly?

Where did Black Hebrew Israelite doctrine actually come from? Chuck Litteton @teachemchuck7303 details the beginnings never really heard before!

In this clip, we dig into the early history of Hebrew Israelism in America and the story of William Saunders Crowdy, founder of the Church of God and Saints of Christ.

Crowdy claimed to receive supernatural revelations from God and taught that blacks in America descended from the lost tribes of Israel. His movement would go on to promote teachings about black identity, Israel, the prophets, and even Jesus that departed dramatically from historic biblical Christianity.

We also discuss the movement’s later development, the “Black Elijah” claims, Marcus Garvey, early Pan-African influences, Ben Ammi Ben-Israel, and how racial identity increasingly became intertwined with religious doctrine.

This is why examining origins matters. A teaching can quote Scripture, use biblical language, and talk about Israel while still requiring us to ask the most important question:

**Is this actually what the Bible teaches?**

The SHOCKING Origins of Black Hebrew Israelite Doctrine!

Can a faith still worship the true God while elevating racial identity, building theology around racial grievance, or teaching that one group has a special spiritual status because of its ancestry or skin color?

Tonight we’re examining the “black” church, Black Hebrew Israelism, and Black Liberation Theology — three very different movements, but with one question at the center:

What happens when blackness becomes more than a description and starts shaping how we understand God, Scripture, salvation, oppression, and identity?

Does Christianity give us a racial lens through which we interpret the Bible? Does God assign spiritual privilege, special revelation, or victim status according to race? Or does the Gospel call us out of those identities and into a new identity in Christ?

I've coined the term Blackism - the belief that blackness gives a person a special social status that determines what they are owed, what they suffer, what they understand, and what is expected of them.

Black pastors are protesting the DNC, saying Democrats have exploited their churches, taken black voters for granted, and failed to deliver on promises.

But there’s a bigger question: **Why is the Church negotiating with a political party for a “progressive agenda” in the first place?**

Tonight, we’re looking beyond Democrat vs. Republican and asking what Scripture actually says the mission of the Church is. Is the pulpit supposed to be used to demand government jobs, universal healthcare, free college, childcare, and political representation—or to preach Christ, make disciples, care for our neighbors, and call people to repentance?

You can be right that politicians exploit churches and still be wrong about what the Church is supposed to be demanding from Caesar.

Also, I'm coining the term Blackism - the belief that blackness gives a person a special social status that determines what they are owed, what they suffer, what they understand, and what is expected of them.
